Side By Side with Maureen Kornowa on What We Want Our Teams To Know

As leaders, we make constant and often quick decisions. What keeps us going is knowing we have the trust and support of those we lead. But most leaders never take the time to turn around and explain the why behind the what to their teams. When was the last time you asked your team if they understood why a decision was made? As you make decisions, what is it that you wish your teams knew? Let’s talk about it.

1.  Their Success Is Our Success

I want our guest to know regardless of where you’ve come from, you can be and do anything. We give hope in a future that many don’t even know is possible. We want them to see and take advantage of the opportunity in front of them. There’s a team of people that come to work everyday just to make sure they succeed. Their success is our success.

2.  Our Team Lives Our Mission

They know they’re enacting lasting change. We’re ending the cycle of homelessness for two generations at one time. Mothers and her children in our program will not know the extended-stay, sleeping in car life because of her hard work and choices. The logo of Home of Hope at Gwinnett Children’s Shelter has a nest because it’s the perfect metaphor for us.

Though masterfully built a nest is a temporary dwelling where fledglings learn how to fly.
