March – 2019 Monthly Leadership Session with Dr. Kim

Kimberly A. Hires, PhD, RN, Founder & CEO of The Nightingale Firm, certified coach and professional speaker simply goes by Dr. Kim. A sought after thought leader in her field, Dr. Kim was recently recognized by the People You Need To Know Magazine (Atlanta Edition) as a 2018 Atlanta Woman of the Year. How do you overcome the obstacles that prevent you from being who you were meant to be? How do you encourage and empower those around you to be the best they can be? Let’s talk about it.

2 Highlights From This Episode

1. We must lead ourselves well.

Leading yourself requires a holistic approach. There is no such thing as a professional you and a personal you. That is a farce. If you’re terrible at home then you’re going to be terrible at work. If home is full of conflict and unresolved issues then that will present itself at work. What you see at work is simply a byproduct of how you lead yourself. People don’t leave a job, they leave bad managers.

2. Leadership reveals everything you don’t know.

Leaders who feel unequipped can be paralyzed by the fear of failure. We have to be willing to say, “I don’t know.” Leaders must either stay in a constant state of learning or stay in constant fear of being found out. Rewarding longevity instead of leadership skills creates bad leaders and horrific managers who can’t let you know what they don’t know.
