July – 2019 Monthly Leadership Session with Brooke Walls

Brooke Walls is the Executive Director of Lifelink International, an international organization that exists to impact lives and build futures by showing the love of Jesus Christ through acts of compassion. Brooke’s new role allows her to use the leadership skills she acquired in Healthcare Management to now oversee the day to day operations of Lifelink Centro Escolar (Lifelink School Center) with over 465 kids (Pre K – 8th grade), an international child sponsorship program and a staff of over 30 local and foreign workers. What leadership skills transcend industry? Let’s talk about it.

2 Highlights From This Episode

1. Building Trust

I wanted to be the type of leader that people want to follow because they trust me. Trust is a foundation that you must have, no matter where you go. Leaders must make themselves and their stories available to those they lead. Transparency is vital to building trust. Great leaders learn about each person they lead and what makes them tick.

2. Empowering Others

When you’re in high risk situations leaders must trust and empower those around them. Your teams must know that they can make a decisions, share their concerns and have them validated. Great leaders instill confidence, help others to believe in themselves and prepare them to make the right decisions. But you’ll never do any of those if you’re afraid to fail. Serving under a leader who empowers you has a way of removing the fear of making a mistake.
